Sent from caretk@malmesburyconcertband.org.uk : To Committee : Titled MCB Summer Social Friday 22nd July 2022

Message:
Hi everyone,
So, one thing left before the summer break - the band social :)
Were going to hold it in the band room (or in the carpark if the weather is good) starting at 7.30pm
Please bring your own drink and some food to share (ideally a desert/sweet but savoury good too!). I will bring a few savoury nibbles.
I will supply paper plates, cups, napkins and cutlery.
Spouses, partners, parents welcome.
Any questions just ask.
See you Friday,
Ben

Message:

Hello Band,

I thought the Dauntsey Feast was a perfect way to end this season. Well done to you all! I hope to see as many of you as possible at the Summer Social on Friday, sweets in hand, and the rest of you in September.

This is not the last time we will play the summer setlist. On Friday September 2 we rehearse for accompanying the Malmesbury Carnival Procession. The Procession happens in the evening of the following day, Saturday, September 3rd. Well also use the same setlist for September 24th in the Birdcage Walk/Market Cross promotion for the Cabaret.

Please fill in your attendance for these events and for the following Cabaret and associated rehearsals. We have already begun to play much of the music for the Cabaret on October 22nd.

All the best,

Art

Sent from musdir@malmesburyconcertband.org.uk : To Committee : Titled Fridays Uniform

Message:

Hello Band,

As its going to be warm tomorrow night, I think we can relax the uniform a bit to include shorts and summer hats. Please try to keep white on top and light colours below the waist (black is OK if necessary).

Ben says "No jeans or flop-flops”.

See you tomorrow night,

Sent from musdir@malmesburyconcertband.org.uk : To Committee : Titled Sunday at Swindon Cancelled

Message:

 Hello Band,

With regret, I have decided to cancel our Sunday performance in Queens Park, Swindon. I have spoken with Tony and Ben about this, and today I visited the performance area in the park.

Many of you have tried to encourage players to fill the ranks and I want to thank you very much for this.

My main concern is that we might finish this season with a less than successful performance. This would be such a shame as the band has done so well in the new year.

Now heat has added another problem to the equation. I saw where we would play in Queens Park. It is a stone and concrete area with no shade. It is not a bandstand. The Met Office has issued an Amber Extreme Heat Warning for Sunday, with temperatures over 30 degrees forecast for Swindon.

So well finish our summer program with the Dauntsey Feast, where Im certain youll do well. The Feast is at a slightly different venue this year, across the road from Dauntsey Park, in the beautiful grounds of the Old Rectory. It is under the trees and along side the River Avon.

All the best,

Hello Band,

For Sunday, July 17th, at Queens Park, Swindon, I am still searching for a first clarinet. Please let me know if you can think of anyone.

As you know, Jane is taking the rehearsal this Friday. She has asked me to give you a list of music that should be in your pads. You already have the summer setlist, so here is what else should be in your pad:

Sailing By
Skyfall
Tall Ships
Chicago
Apollo 13
Birdland
James Bond Suite
Tambourin
Elegy

Any thing not in the setlist or not listed above should be handed in.

Sent from musdir@malmesburyconcertband.org.uk : To Committee : Titled Friday Great Somerford

Message:

I was delighted to be able to join you on Friday, as a member of audience, and to catch up with my friends in the Band.  Although there was not much fixed interest in the Band (audience sitting and listening), its participation certainly does create an atmosphere that is traditional for an English country fete, and I am sure it was very much appreciated.  The turnout from villagers (and the Band) was good and I hope that everybody regarded it as a success.  I got rather cold towards the end and, I guess, that those of you waggling your fingers found that too, but that did not detract from a really creditable performance for which much thanks to you all - and to Art, Sharyn and Ben for leading it.

I hope to see you at the Band Social on 22nd July, and am still trying to work out how I am going to get up the stairs!  More accurately, it is the coming down that concerns me, but some of you offered helpful comments like sliding down on a tin tray, etc!  Thank you for that!

With kind wishes

Tony
